hi Susan Sabeel has to have an endoscopy in about 3 weeks. He will be under general anaesthetic. The doctor has also run blood tests to check for gluten sensitivity. we did try reducing gluten foods but didn't see much impact. hoping its not colitis but the signs point in that direction.

Oh, well that should give them an idea of what is going on.
I am surprised they've told you he'll have a general anasthetic. Ususally they use a sedative that means you are drowsy and don't remember it afterwards, but you are alert enough to move if they need you to turn a little to negotiate the twists and turns of your digestive tract.
Have they mentioned the need to have the digestive tract cleared out prior to the procedure? I was given Picolax, a fiendish solution which has a very drastic emptying effect on the whole bowel. He'd be advised to stay close to a loo for the day of so while he has that inside him. He will have to drink a lot and eat a very specific few foods and then fast for a while. They give you a sheet explaining this when they give you the medicine.
Good luck to you both, I found the prep harder than the scop itself, whihc the drugs help you to deal with and forget!

Hmmmm ... will find the picolax pretty grim, I imagine, tho some ppl say they manage it OK ...
you'll hve the summer to find out how to progress with his health from whatever they tell you ...
re the investigation itself, perhaps they say go for a general cos he's so young ...
lots of love to you all with this, Cathy xxxxx

the blood tests came out as normal with no infammatory indicators but when the consultant examined Sabeel , she could feel swelling. He's booked in for an ultra sound on the 4th July ( surprised me it's a Sunday ) then endoscopy on 14th. Obviously , I'm feeling worried. He's going to school , and no longer needing loo so many times and hasn't lost weight . just playing the waiting game and you know how awful that is.
