What kind of birds are you attracting, Pauline? I miss the bird table we had at our old place, but luckily there is lots of opportunity to see them in the woods around about.
Went to a concert of Vaughan Williams and Mendelsohnn(sp?) in the Cathedral, by the Cathedral School orchestra, on Friday night. It was very good, and the building was packed. Lots of proud mums and dads, alongside lots of us pensioners ;D
Had an interview at the Wells and Mendip Museum on Thursday and tomorrow I'm going to do a trial run on the Reception desk - it's a quiet season at the moment but lots of tourists to look after in the summer. Looking forward to it.

Good to hear you are gettinbg embedded in your new area Anne.
We are making steps to get back to the shed soon!
Last week we mainly went to my gym classes or cycled about ... and also started seeing people about getting our kitchen overhauled .. it is more possible now we have the shed to live in while they mess about with it .. it is going to be back to bare brick due to the excessive layers of tiles we have in there!

I'm so sorry nadge, this must be so hard for you x
We are wet here as well, but only a little bit. I've just done a stint sitting at the Reception desk/Shop at Wells Museum - i will have a permanent slot on Thursday afternoons. Am also going to help out in their garden, in fact I was welcomed with open arms by the chief gardener and it's something one can just pop in and do when the weather is fine.

Pleased you have got a couple of interesting things to do Anne. Its surprising how many people you get to know when helping at these places. I found it very nice talking to local people and some of them, pop in often well thats the charity shop Im not so sure about the museum. Still it will be good I am sure.

Wells is very much on the tourist trail, coaches visit from the continent as well as the UK. Apparently they do the Cathedral first, then the Bishop's Palace, and the Museum last (so it often gets missed). Lots of plans to update the facilities. They have about 60 volunteers, and most of them people you meet in other groups, so it is indeed a great way to meet local people. Yes, it will be good, I'm sure, and so different from my old life, neither my husband nor I can quite believe it yet

Nadge x Well really it might be a better place than most to vent, as most ppl in here don't know you very well, and certainly don't know your missis .. I am sorry to hear this, nadger, though not exactly surprised, after some of the things I have heard you say in the past .. As you know, I am always here if you need someone to talk to .. tho that is not strictly true, cos I have got to go to the shed tomorrow and am in Wales on Wedsnesday, and Chester on Thursday .. but you know, I'm never far from t'internet, or phone and will help you anyway I can.

hiya
had a good time at shed yesterday, got a lot of tidying done around the deck, clearing dead stuff out of the pots and admiring the new shoots springing from some of the plants we have there ..
the joiner was great, he has mended a couple of cosmetic things that we didn't like about the kitchen, especially the ill fitting panels on the living room side of the kitchen units .. they look smart, and he re did the joints on the pelmet on the wall units, so it looks a lot better ..
the plumbing is still not restored yet .. but Ian is on the case .. he will have it done in a few dasys or a week or two .. depending on his other jobs.
John will come over with me one day soon and finish off the venting for th kitchen hood, which I think is important for the anti-condensation issue .. tho it felt / smelt quite dry and clean yesterday .. which is good ..
I am off to Wales with Mr K today, and staying out there overnight in Llandudno, he is on 1/2 term, but obviously B is at work .. I don't know what exciting route he has planned, but climbs and climbs will no doubt be part of it!
B and I are hoping to get some decorating done at the shed this weekend to finish off the wall covering in the kitchen area ... then we can start getting all our stuff back over there and start to live there in the week again ... it is exciting to be thre from the start of the season. I had quite a few chats with ppl over there yesterday, Tony and Pam who work there are busy getting things sorted for the new season, and Vic who lives opposite was around. he hasn't got his water on, but goes over most days .. he only lives a few miles away !
The actual owners are away, skiing, they enjoy a holiday just before the season starts .. and apparently there ARE bookings for holiday makers at the very start of March. Good!
Hope all is well
sorry to hear you had a disturbed night, mum. Get some tonic water down you for that cramp!

Hope things went well at the hospital Pauline. One of our pipes under the sinks sprung a little leak, its the one to the outside tap so weve been able to isolate it , the Gas board home care is coming to fix it tomorrow. Hope you are O- K. Nat. after your traumatic week end. My leg seems fine now, but my it was awful in the night. Seems like the sun is trying to show its face at 4-o clock. Bye now Mumxxx

Hello again. Yes the hospital visit went off ok thanks. I was discharged from going there again as the operations seem to have gone well, as I thought. However, I will get an appointment to go on the bio-feedback muscle training thing, at a place I've been to before. And I've been told how to adjust my diet, which was no surprise really. Never mind. ........ Glad the the leg has gone better now. Maybe you'll get a better night's sleep tonight cousin P. ...... Oh yes Nat, hope you are ok & getting over the break up. .......... Think I'll have an early night to bed. Feel a bit tired. Yawn!

I'm so glad you've been discharged from the hospital, and you think the operation has done it's job, Pauline. It must make life much easier and more comfortable for you ..
I bet you're both looking forward to being back in your shed, you will be just in time to see spring in full bloom and song. We have primroses out down here, all the buds are burstin on many of the trees and bushes and lots of shoots popping up through the leaf litter. I shall start going out with my sketchbook and get to grips with all the textures that surround us.
I occasionally get leg cramps in the night, and my foot actually turns inwards, it's agony, and attempting to stamp up and down on it doesn't seem to help at the time. Does drinking tonic water help, do you drink a little every day? I could try that.
We've been cleaning the outside windows as the Manager/landlord hasn't got around to it - but he's very helpful with other maintenance, the communal hallway and stair wells have been re-painted recently (they were fine anyway). Did the Friday shop in the Hot Fuzz supermarket this morning - farmers market day tomorrow.
Not only do I have gardening and reception work to look forward to, but also some admin, ha! I don't think there's a cat's whisker chance I'll go back to work but it will keep me grounded.

Went to Weymouth today on the bus. Had lunch out Dad wasnt very hungry so I some of his, to be sure I will not be eating much again to day. It was quite warm on the sea front sat for some time talking to a lady who was 85 and she only had half a heart. Things are coming out here in the garden I do not feel very much like messing about outside just yet, is this a sign of age?.Though I did gather up some branches and took them to the tip the other day. Gosh Anne whats the Hot Fuzz shop? I have never heard of it. I just get up in the end when I have cramp, its just a waste of time being in the bed in agony.Lucky for me I do not get it often.I once did have a trapped nerve so I just worry its not that back again, when it wakes me up. Just drinking a nice cuppa tea Freds made Bye xxx

mumndad - was it a half-hearted conversation? The Hot Fuzz shop is the supermarket featured in the film Hot Fuzz. In fact we have a Hot Fuzz tourist trail in Wells, for people who want to visit all the film locations. It makes a change from ecclesiastical architecture.
