prince of thorns is proving to be remarkably easy book to read, rather dark and not one I would have picked myself, there's a rather carefree attitude to hacking people to death with swords and a kind of medieval power struggle going on which really isn't the sort of thing I normally go for but it's not surprisingly interesting
not bad for a freebie
--edit--
oops shouldn't be a "not" there

I dont think i've ever read a book i dont know what it is about them, im not dyslexic, but i just dont enjoy reading. I dont mind short magazines, art n crafts, cooking etc, but not novels. I never read the school books we were supposed to, when i read i realise ive missed half a page and not really took in what ive read ............ im going to try and listen to a couple of audio books on my iplayer, ive got Dawn French Hello Fatty, Gordan Ramsey humble pie and Sharon Osbourne to try out. x

I love reading as well - but do also enjoy audio books which I borrow from our library (we can also download them for three weeks from our South West Libraries web page).
I've got Never Let Me Go by Kasuo Ishigaro (sp) on my pile, really loved Remains of the Day.
got to rush but just wanted to say hi!

Hi Littlefeathers no need for me to read a book Ive got a talking book all to myself. If my husband is reading anything, I get a full blown read out almost word for word. I buy Take a break and do the puzzles, I dont read all of the stories some are just trash. Julies lent me a couple of books which I read and enjoyed , but myself I dont buy any. Bye L.M. xxxx

I've finished reading, 'Ross Kemp Gangs'. Written by Ross Kemp who is an actor in one f the 'soaps', maybe Eastenders.
He's done an interesting study of gang culture on the streets & in prison. The book follows on from the television series which I have seen a few times.
A friend gave me the book & no doubt it will end up one day in a charity shop.

Only just noticed the bit about Dad and his legendary narrations. It's all true. Most people read a line or two not an entire chapter, to be fair it always seemed fun to me.

The Wasp Factory by Iain Banks is amazing. Now reading Consider Phlebas by Iain M. Banks. Same brilliant author in SF mode.

Susan, I am happy to know you like Iain (M) Banks, have you read any other good ones by him? I have Transition, The Crow Road, Walking on Glass, and Complicity all lined up ready for reading. Karen, I have you to thank for putting me on to this guy. Have you tried his non SF books?

I've recently finished Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishigaro - must be one of the best books I've read this year, possibly not suitable for anyone in a pessimistic mood though ..
Patricia Cornwell, 'Scarpetta' - good reading, but a bit tacky in my opinion
On my daughter's recommendation I'm reading the second of the Twilight Trilogy 'New Moon' (teenage vampires) - which sounds tacky but actually they are rather good
Kate Mosse's Winter Ghost is awaiting on the shelf
and I will look out for Iain M Banks - thanks
