Bless you guppy, you are kind to say so, though I don't really agree, it was just a bike ride ... and going as slow as we did it wasn't even tiring!

So one year on and it is that time of year again. We are going to do the Prostate Cancer Tour challenge ride, 80kms or 50 miles in old money. It is part of the Tour of Britain course, a week on Sunday. Meanwhile we have been acting like crazy groupies, stalking the cyclists and watching the telly every night (ITV4 usualy about 8pm) Here is a really lovely video compilation of bits and pieces at the end of the Stoke Stage of the Tour of Britain .. Sam and I saw all of this. At the end of the video, starting with the timer on 1 min 39 you can actually see me and Sam, to the left of Mark Cavendish. We are behind the fence and I am wearing a blue coat, Sam has her camera up and is in a brown jacket. Cav was looking really sad and I made him smile, cos I said: "we love you Mark" .. which I reckon I can lip-read in this video clip, though I doubt anyone else will realise that! matpennel's video compilation

This is the very pic I took from the other side of the video bit! and Sams: he was so sad to have not won the stage, and he lost the leader's jersey .. but I made him smile, just after this, really I DID!

Hey mumndad, thanks for your donation,
by the way, Julie's comment means she thinks I do look good now, and fit enough to do the distance, she was saying I might get more donations if I put up a pic of me looking more incapable on a bike, she quote a photo that is quite a funny one of us in snow on Skye -- tho that ride was a lot harder than this, cos we were touring carrying all our own stuff in some pretty vile weather that year! Did hundreds of miles in ten days that time!

hiya, in fact they were a bit behind me, cos Sam was a bit slower up the hills, towards the end, and I was so cold in the rain I had to keep moving faster ... so we got split up a bit .. but they were not far behind me ... the professional photographer has caught a good shot of us at the start of the race, so I might fork out for that when I get home onto a secure internet connection.
Thinking of you now dad, it's about this time that you will be going for your next lot of treatment on your eyes.

Hi, Susan, yes I had some more laser treatment on Wednesday, it realy just makes your eye hurt/ache for a while till it wears of.and you try it for any lesoning of your vision, you cant tell about the bleeding as you dont know about that ,untill it would be to late, That is why the picture's that you go for are so important, and they keep a check on the back of your eye.
I was told I have to go in 2 months from now ,to be informed by letter,so there is one more session for sure and could be two. My inability to walk without pain is more depressing . love Dad xxx

Aw, dad, so sorry to hear you are down with your pain levels ...
I know I've mentioned this before, to not much effect .... but I really think you should try buying yourself some physiotherapy, I know they cannot cure your underlying disease, but they might be able to relax muscle spasms for you, and improve your comfort levels ...
Go private so you get time and attention to diagnose carefully ... It has really helped me .. albeit with relativley minor things compared to your pains, but they know so much more about physiology than most doctors, and there is nothing to lose in giving it a go.

Dad, take Susan's advice about the physio. Sounds like a good idea. We've only got one Dad, so you had better look after yourself. What about swimming, wouldn't that help? X
