Sigh Things just get so much harder in the cold! December snow brought my exercise to a halt, really ... and the pounds immediately started to creep up Well, we did at least four decent length rides in Lazarote over Christmas, probably about 100 miles in total. Since we got back we've done two local rides out, and a little walk at Trentham. We've also been quite good at doing yoga stretches every day .. certainly while we were away and most days since we got home .. this is good! This week I will be starting my routine of going to the gym on Thursdays for a whole afternoon. If we cycle at least once at the weekend I just really need to make sure I do something on Tues or Weds and that'll be all good ..

The snow whilst very pretty to look at makes my life so much more difficult, the village roads become impassable and siege mentality sets in, along with the desperate need to nourish everyone with hearty stews and steam puddings, including myself of course.
walking my dog is more difficult, she struggles with the depth of the snow and the ice clings to her paws making her tumble everywhere, we both return exhausted and one big sodden mess.
Of course all these taken into account = weight gain, and one unhappy person. only saving grace is the amount of layers worn to keep warm covers the bumps that have appeared without pernmission.
so, is winter finished with\/, bearing in mind that we are usually at this time awaiting our first snow fall, have we been lured into a false sense of security?
Hope not for the sake of the scale readings and my sanity.

hiya jan --- indeed these early snow has been a hard thing ...
it is significanty warmer here today, despite hard frost
perhaps we ought to get one of those exercise videos and jump around in the proivacy of our own homes?

The novelty of having new places to explore has really boosted my exercise regime, am wearing my trusty pedometer once more.
the snow did make things very difficult indeed, let's hope we don't have much more of it this year. At least the days are getting longer, and warmer.

Thursday 27th
I was too grotty after the scan to do my classes this afternoon (they pump you full of nasty stuff that you don't really notice when you're in chemo cos you feel so sick and rough anyway, but when you are fine it knocks you about a bit! )
Friday 28th Jan 2011
Mand booked the day off work to be with me and we went to the Dance Aerobics at Shapes together. As predicted it worked well to raise my mood.

Sat 29th Janwe were both pretty tired after a week of frenzied distraction .. did some stretches in the morning then just did some more painting and stayed in by the fire Sunday 30th Jan 2011Celebrated our good news from the scan with a quality ride out in the Peaks. Parked at Oakmore and cycled up to the main road. A four mile climb ... Dropped down on main road to Manifold Valley. Bombed along there. Climbed back up to Hartington and then dropped down the Tissington Trail back to the car .. delicious! This is such a good ride. Starts with the hardest bit and ends with a long slow descent. Beautiful scenery and hardly any traffic even on the road stretches, and not many ppl on the trails in the winter .. really great oh and we saw snowdrops just about to burst forth, just the tiniest bits of white peeking out, and also new born lambs .. spring is coming! x time: 2hr 34mins distance: 27.7 miles ave 10.7 mph max still missing?

Thurday April 21st 2011
Ooooops - record keeping not very good, but exercise regime has been fine .. generally doing two or three days a week at the club, with an aerobic and a stretchy class each time, plus some cycling with B or Mr K ..
Mr K and I went to Scotland last week and did 40-50 miles for three of the four days we did less on the rainy day on Skye less miles, but the most tiring of the lot with constant up and down into driving, cold rain! FUN!!!
Got to get back into a routine after the holidays .. can't let this building project stop me doing the club ...
