Liz, hello and welcome on board .. great that you have joined
Since you are now trained in WW matters I think you could make really great contribution for us in here!
Will you work out my 5% and 10% for me? I'm about 5ft 6" and weighing in at 13st 8lbs at the start ..
my personal goal is about 12 stones .. I've never really been under that --- I think ideally I'd like to be just over 11 stones, but that feels like never-never land, wheras I know I can do 12 stone!
Interesting that your own choice of snack is dark chocolate, the very thing recommended in anti-cancer for its polyphenol content ...
I might add that into my diet when I'v got down to target.
I really like this diet outline for the same reason I liked teaching better than community work .. it gives me a daily, repetitive structure that I can be creative within, it just suits my personality to follow a plan .. it's funny cos B is always wanting to go "off-piste" and I want to stick to it cos I know it works and I don't have to make a choice at every meal time, I've got a basic structure I can play with ..
it's very low on carbs, and I think that is its main strength for me, too.

My minimum target weight would be 10 stone. I've been ten stone (at 5' 4") before now and looked slim. Actual weight can be a bit deceptive ... I'm about 11 stone 12" now, and look quite dumpy but I don't wobble My main motive for losing weight is health; bringing my blood pressure down, avoiding blood clots (I've got sticky blood) ... but it would be lovely to be a really good looking, sexy older lady in ten years or so ;D I'll post my weight tomorrow morning

Actually I dont think sexy comes from your size .. e.g. Liz was alwasy sexy, whatever her size .. she just IS - it radiates from inside her! and obviously I don't think being a chubster has stopped me being sexy either!

5' 4". I shall make a real effort this week, having had an enormous meal out today, half a duck, stir fried veg, thick sauce, and potatoes followed by farmhouse clotted cream ice cream.
Yes, one pound off is fine really. The exercise helps and sometimes I try to tell myself it's "all muscle" ... some of it probably is actually.

Hello ladies. May I join in here?
Just a re-cap for anyone who hasn't read the post I mentioned this in: but I've just finished reading Paul McKenna's "I Can Make You Thin" and it's really helped me to reconfigure my maladaptive thought processes around food. He has four basic princples to follow:
When you are hungry, EAT Eat what you want, not what you think you should Eat CONSCIOUSLY and enjoy every mouthful When you are full, STOP EATING
but the main nugget of wisdom centres around getting back in tune with your body. He talks a lot about being able to distinguish between emotional eating and eating because you are hungry, and I have come to the <shocking> realisation that I eat predominantly in response to emotions; either to make myself feel better, or to obtain an instant gratification. He pretty much described me to a T when he talked about the relationship some people have with food.
SO --
I'm working on listening to my solar plexus rather than my cravings. It's really helped me over these last two days. In fact, I've noticed that I automatically eat less.
There are other mind re-configuring techniques to employ too -- like getting into the habit of always leaving something on your plate, and making a point of putting your knife and fork down between mouthfuls to encourage KNOWING that you are eating and enjoying your food. Funny that I spend most of my day thinking about food except for the time when I'm actually shovelling it in! If that's not emotional eating I don't know what is.
Anyway, I haven't weighed myself yet as he advises following his 'programme' for two weeks before first stepping on the scales. He then advises weighing yourself once a fortnight, although I doubt I could keep the suspense from eating me up inside, so I'll probably post my weight next week.
It's not a diet, but it compliments learning to eat a balanced diet. Whatever it is, I certainly feel more positive and energetic and have taken the dogs out walking twice yesterday and twice today...
Watch this shrinking space.
