Hi all.
Lovely weather here in Stoke. Not doing anything exciting with my day. Still regulating my meds, but at least no painkillers.
I am still in awe at the speed of, & the use of key-hole surgery. However, it was a 3 hour thing all told.
Last night I watched a prog., about a teenage boy who had a gastric-bypass due to obesity. Quite a few surgeons turned him down. He did amazingly well. and I believe it was a 2 hour procedure. Absolutely amazing!
Well, hope we all have a good day today.

I went to the dentist's today. Luckily I didn't need a nasty injection but it was the second tyime that tooth has been filled in a week - first filling fell out.
Hi everybody. Thought I'd return to the forum and start to get to know ypu all.
You'd have laughed at me yesterday, Suze. I decided to fix an old bike my borther gave me and went for a short ride. First ride in almost 20 years! lol
Boy did I ache.
I was also terrified of the traffic. Really terrified.

Hello Christine No dentist for me until November, hooray! I enjoyed cycling as a girl, but really hated main roads with lorries coming up behind me. I can still remember one particular incident when I was struggling to the top of a hill before the lorry behind me went past ... I don't know why I wanted to reach the top before it did though. glad you've been able to come off painkillers, Pauline I've been running around doing odd jobs today, had a check up at the Breast Clinic and all is well

hey christine .. yes traffic is scarey, and trying to race lorries up hill is never going to work out well ..
I hope you can get on with it, it's a great form of exercise, especially if you can find quiet places to ride ..
I've still got to get my filling seen to .. <sigh>
so glad your check-up came out clear, anne.
Today I am lazing around a bit, recovering from the yompy long walk I did with Liz yesterday .. I might do a bit of clothes shopping and then Mand is coming over later ..

Well today I am going along to a local help group to get some help filling forms in. They intimidate me - the forms, not the help group. Than I am going shopping and then for another ride.
There are quiet places to ride near me, but it is getting to them. There isn't one local bike lane which is joined up - it's all bits and bobs with horrible stretches of main road in between. Still,. I'll get used to it. My aim is to get fit enough to ride to the coast and back whenever I want.
Have a good day everyone.

once you get cycling you could be surprised how quickly you build strength ... i remember it being quite a quick improvement at the start ..
it's rubbish how they make bits of bike lanes that dotn join up, and often dump you in the narrow/busy bits ..
but it is a joy to be good at cycling and get about under your own steam, so I hope you can persevere

Hi folks. Nice weather today here in Stoke. Sounds like you had a good time mum&dad. I'm pleased for you. And for all others who enjoyed it all. ....... I don't have interesting news I'm afraid. Only a shopping trip today. Son-&-heir has spent a lot of time doing course-work on the p.c. So I've just hung around so to speak. I miss being able to get stuck into cleaning & decorating. It is difficult for me to delegate the hoovering & dish-washing, but I have stuck to it. And son-&-heir has got on with the tasks. .......... Which reminds me, I did pop back to town to visit the library. There was a sale on of withdrawn books, so I bought 3. So I guess I have no excuse for not finding sommat to do. It is just a matter of getting the brain to work right ........... I think the other probs are getting sorted out now. I'm juggling with the meds at the mo. Will be glad when I'm off laxatives, but at least no painkillers & no pain. ............ Hope everyone is feeling good today/night.

AW mum, that is a sweet post and thanks for recording it alll .. it shows we kept busy!
It was lovely to be able to show you what we've managed with the shed, and to show you around a bit of the area. As you know Brigid is particularly keen on it for the cycling she can do every day ... I just went out to meet her from work and now we are off to the curry house again .. staying up for an extra day to go to the beach tomorrow
I've also seen a differet mate every day this week, and been on a big cleaning splurge today, so maybe that is why I feel really tired today! I was wondering if I was starting with a virus but maybe I just need a bit of rest LOL

Hi Mum and Dad, it was a pleasure to have you here too. I wish we could pop round and see you any time, I miss you so much when you go home. At least we have phones and this forum etc. Anyway, we had fun didn't we? I keep thinking of other bits of town you might have liked to see, but I suppose you got the idea of the changes that have gone on. Have you had a cold this week? Tracy and I have been coughing like mad, I wasn't even sure if I'd be OK for work today, but still went in. What a relief to get to the weekend.
Susan, was the dog a convertible?
Love to all x
