Loving this weather and all the bird song ... it is delightful... just heard some horses trotting past on the bridle path at the back of the shed.
We had a good party out with Kasia and her friends last night, and I blew the diet with a Mousakka in Dimitirs's ... first time I've eaten anything like that in ages ... it was a memory of times past ... I must admit Dimitri's food is good!

Isn't the weather great? Suddenly we are all spoilt for choice of what to do with our days. Here our options are a bit restricted because Luke has to prepare for his GCSEs, so not much of an Easter holiday for him. He has plenty of revision/homework to wade through and even has to go in to school on four days dotted about throughout the next fortnight. These include the 19th, 20th and 21st. A bit lame for the teachers too! Which means we are a bit tied here, and I doubt a trip to the shed is going to be an option unless Susan wants us there on the Monday 18th? In which case I will try to get the day off. I have next Friday off already, so it would make a long weekend for me.
Mum, the dates you mentioned for a possible visit to Coventry will fall in the middle of Luke's exams, but luckily not on the actual dates of any exams. So should be OK if you came.
Luke and I have been playing football a few times recently, so are getting a bit fitter again after a long winter of inactivity. Felt quite rusty the first day, for the first time in my life my leg muscles were a bit stiff. The 'use it or lose it' expression must be true.
love to all

Lovely isn't it? We saw a mallard duck with *15* tiny chicks today, swimming in the very protected environment of the Bishop's Palace Moat, so hopefully most of them will survive. Also walked in these lovely bluebell woods 15/20 mins walk from the centre of Wells Park Wood_2 by Anne Calico, on Flickr Enjoy your week everyone ..

hiya Mark .. erm, realy not at all sure what we'll be doing later this month with the whole kitchen sink drama .. we keep adding jobs and then that throws up related shopping-choices-supervision issues!
Monday 18th is when we wil have just got back from travels, and B will be back at work.

Anne, we also went wandering around some bluebell woods today (Hartshill Hayes near Nuneaton), though round here not all are in full bloom yet. We noticed plenty of cute young rabbits.
Susan: doubted the 18th was great, but other than Good Friday there is no option for a trek north. Guess we will have chance to see you at the shed a bit later. Anyway, hope you and Andy find some lovely places to cycle in Scotland. xx

hiya Mark -- 18th is fine with me if you want to do it, just saying B will not be around ... I can't do the good friday cos I have a hair appt in the morning, which will take the entire morning, and I booked that weeks ago -- it's like hen's teeth getting a slot with my hairdresser!
I was supposed to be at home to let the buiders in on Mnday 18th, but they have keys now, and anyrate might have finished their work by then ... or might be doing something else .. all a bit fluid there ..
if you are not staying over it seems a bit far to come for a single day .. when I suggested that week I was thinking you'd make more of a break of it up by the shed ... we could meet nearer to you if you want?

OK, well I will see if the Monday is available when I go in tomorrow. Since the staff numbers were cut in half it's all become a bit trickier to get a day off.. Anyway, if we are lucky then we will arrange a rendezvous where you like. We only recently found out Luke had the extra sessions at school, so didn't know our options for stopping over were virtually nil.

Hope you got back O>K> Sue also hope Brigid gets home safe.Goodness the day she went to USA.they had a near miss accident at New York airport and today they have tornadoes Dad says they are not at N. York. We went to Weymouth yesterday because it was warm and sunny here in Dorch. but it was cloudy down there, still warm, had a ice cream the first in ages, by the sea. doing some chicken and rice for tea trying to think of that recipe we used to have where the rice and chicken are baked together in a slow oven. Karen I think I like your laughter thingy made me laugh to. Where have you been Anne this week, must say weve been busy so Ive not had chance to write much myself. Bye for now L>M>.xxxxx

hiya
yes B got home safe and sound, with lots of space on the place cos other travellers didn't get there due to the tornadoes elsewhere in their journeys ...
that recipe had tomatoes in, it was a lovely dish, and one I sometimes still do ... best if you use pieces with bones in, but take the skin off and cook with onion, tinned toms, rice, water and seasoning of choice, I use garlic and some oregano or other soft herb ... we used to just do it in a roasting tin .. but it would obviously work in a slow cooker too ..
I think ppl go off forums as they go out into the good weather in the spring and summer, mum ... like me
just off to Stoke, going to do some business and see our Mark et al later

Hello everyone - afraid I've been distracted playing games, and, indeed, spending time outside while the weather is so lovely.
I've now got a flowerbed of my own to tend in the Museum gardens, so I'm off now to do a bit of weeding, and also tactfully attempt to get out of my admin duties - a tiny bit of photocopying and laminating every week isn't worth a special journey down there when I could be sitting in the woods drawing the trees ..
talking of drawing ... I notice the art club lady walking past the living room window earlier, perhaps she has popped something in the letter box about my starting date ... which would also be a Monday ... I shall look
btw my mother made a really good chicken, rice and tomato dish when I was young ... always remember it ..
Glad B got home safe and sound, and you too suze - I saw you spent a day on the Isle of Skye, was most jealous

haha, you might have been jealous, Anne, but it was a bit of a scarey day for me, it was so wet I couldn't control my bike on one of the descents! EEK ...
and the route had promised great views but we could see very little in the peristent rain ... so it could have been better
we had 3/4 good days though, so that was lovely, cycled the road back from Mallaig one day, and round two lochs on other days .. Arkaig and Rannoch for those who might like a look ...
I am trying to get stuff for kitchen and hall overhaul sorted out now .. lots to faddle about with .. being out in the sun would be better ..
is the museum gig not suiting you then? shame?
I fixed a dental appt for tomorrow .. I never seem to go long without needing to see my dentist, good job he will always squeeze me in! x

Hope the dentist trip isnt to traumatic Sue. We only went to Tesco today even though it was a very nice warm day. Been busy doing jobs round the house, Dad was fixing new bolts on the double doors out side that we have painted. I was busy changing the bed and washing ect. Anne the chicken thing was really nice but for the life of me I cannot remember how we did it, we ended up with a curry. Not heard from J and J or the boys this week our lawn needs a few daisies nipping off. Tell you what nothings more boring than hanging about waiting for people to attend, if you are at home you can soon fill time up but in a place where you have to just be there its a pain, much better being busy..

It's suiting me fine, thanks suze, but I'm doing three different jobs there now and I want to organize my time better. Reception duties are quite good for meeting people and picking up gossip, and it's lovely to be given a flower border to tend. Any little admin jobs that need doing could be combined with these, rather than requiring a special journey. I can start at the art group on 9th May, will prepare something extra special to show off with on my first day ;D Have the flat to myself today and tomorrow, it's lovely! Pity about your Skye weather but I suppose that's a flavour of the "real" Skye, and glad the trip overall was enjoyable. Scary slide downhill though .. I hope Luke's feeling confident about his GCSE's Mark. reading about the daisies, I saw a lad of about 9 or 10 making a daisy chain the other day, been watched by a couple of admiring small girls - it was rather sweet .. Good luck with the dentist, suze

I saw a big lad with a dandelion chain the other day too .. very sweet to see these traditional things still trickling on Glad you DO like the museum thing, Anne ... I see what you mean about the three levels of jobs .. MUM -- I can tell you how to make that rice n chicken thing if you really want to know! Blimey, I was out and about a lot yesterday, somehow the car's computer registered that I was driving for FOUR hours!! That's a round trip to Stoke plus trips out to dentist, doctor, BnQ, window place and Sainsbos, plus two slight getting losts on the way home in heavy traffic .. hard to believe FOUR hours in the car! I think most of the things I need to sort are sorted now ... the hall is just such an amazing mess now they have ripped all the panelling off ... <<GULP>> I will try to get some of the photos up soon ... There will be a delay now on the building while we wait for stuff to come through, we are going to have this rather lovely new bannister etc
