Sounds like the robbery was a bit amateurish, & I hope there was not too much damage done. Nothing exciting happening here (unless I've missed sommat). Been to the Laurel & Hardy meeting tonight. Very small turnout. Never mind. Did I mention I'd bought a bird-table? Well I get bird coming now, & I must admit that the pigeons are delighted. It's awkward trying to cater for small & large birds. And I doubt they know 2 cats live here. And I doubt the cats know about the birds as they don't go out much. Anyway, it's goodnight from me.

Glad you are enjoying your bird table, Pauline. What are you putting on it? We used tobuy a sack of nuts and another sack of seed in bulk every autumn and it would all be used up by late spring. We also used to put an old tray on the grass, with seed, for the ground feeders. I liked the long tailed tits best, they are so pretty.
My husband and I had our official inductions at the museum. Then I stayed behind to help with the admin, ha! Yesterday was lovely, went for a gorgeous walk along the East Mendip way, which is just over 10 minutes walk from the flat.

Hello folks. Sorry to hear there are a few poorly today. So I hope Luke, Cliff & Sue are better soon. I guess there's always a virus lurking + other things to get us down. Hope things change for the better. We here are OK so nothing to report there. ........... To answer your question, Anne, I have put out a variety for the birds. Dried mealworms, suet pellets, nuts in a cage in the center of the table & fat in a cage at one side of the table. I also put seeds out. To be honest, I also throw stuff on the garage roof & some on the ground for the big birds. The problem is that the pigeons have dominated it all. I do get robins & little birds, but they are overshadowed by pigeons. Don't get me wrong, I am happy with pigeons as long as the little birds are not shut out. But it is a bit of a game keeping the happy medium. And believe it or not, I doubt any of the birds are aware 2 cats live here. My cats only pop out to the garage to use the litter tray. But then it is still winter yet. That will change in summer no doubt. Any way I'm open to advice if you have any. ............ Just a day shopping today. Bought soup bowls & cushion covers. Both from the charity shop. Underneath the bowls it says 'made in Italy'. So they've traveled a long way to get into my cupboard. Haha. ........... Anyway, it's goodnight from me.

hiya I went to French yesterday, but skipped the club .. went to T K Maxx instead! LOL .. found a bargain pair of Bench jeans, and also bought some mats to use on the table when we are eating outside, I think it is more hygienic to put cutlery etc on a mat than direct on the table ... Then I went to Comet, and after quick resume of the consumare research over the phone from my personal shopping consultant (aka DAD) I invested in a satellite dish and recording box. Thanks for the help dad. I have to phone a number today and arrange for the fitter to come and fix the dish. I found the Comet shop in Chester using my i-phone, it is so easy to get locations and directions with this new technology, I love it! Today I am going to go boxingat the gym! I still feel a bit weedy, but the exercise will be ok today, I think. How are the other invalids? Did you get a mask mum? I hope you co-ordinated it to your cardigan? Later I have to pick B up from school and take her to the airport, she is going to Southampton for the weekend wiht her sister and niece. Her niece is studying at the same uni that B went to. I will have my first night alone at the shed tonight .. a bit weird! I am not bothering going back to Stoke cos I am meeting friends in Manchester tomorrow.

hiya, really enjoyed the boxing class, and the body balance afterwards, a really nice combo.
I had a date with B at the airport, where we had a rather over-priced meal at the Marriot Hotel, but at least it afforded us a comfy place to relax before she set off ... her plane was 1/2 empty and they got there in less than an hour ... amazing!
Today I will do more research into kitchen appliances ... which is not such a quick business as choosing a satelitte thingy! Then I'm meeting Kasia and going to a dance show with her .. must remember I don't think I paid her for the tickets yet!

How impressive is Brigid? Flying around the country must be great. And Susan, you never stand still, hope you have a laugh in Manchester. I wouldn't mind another look around there. Pleased you and Dad sorted out the tv recorder requirements.
Sainsbury's will be the furthest we travel today. Luke is fine now, hope everyone else is.

I don't really know what to do about the pigeons, Pauline. It's a nuisance because they do inhibit the smaller birds, and they eat everything of course. Ground feeders aren't just the big birds, but some species like wrens, hedgesparrows (dunnocks) .... We placed our ground feeding bird food on a tray so things could be tidied up easily and kept clean - leaving food around on the ground could encourage those four-footed pigeons ... moulding food can also cause disease in the birds themselves - so don't put out too much at a time. You have a fabulous variety of food there, I bet the robins love the mealworms today I'm off to the Museum to man the receptionarea/shop all by myself, and it's a sunny Saturday - and only my third time doing the job at all - bit nervous!

Hello there. Thanks for the tips about bird feeding Anne. I think I will put ground stuff an a tray like you do. Les is going to make a device to put on the side of the bird-table. Forgot what he said it was. There is a small wooden bar on one end he nailed on for me. The little birds do get a look in some of the time. But the pigeons rule. I'll let you know how it goes. ...... Hope your museum day went well. ......... Glad to see Luke is better. Also glad Sue appears better also. ....... Well mum&dad seems you had a nice day in Weymouth. I'm glad you have a nice area to visit & so convenient. ...... Today was just a routine day for me with a shopping visit & bit of sewing alterations. And to be honest, after seeing the news of the terrible earthquake in Japan, I count myself lucky to be here just having a routine day. ..... Hope all is well.

morning .. up with the lark this morning .. got a load of washing on, have to be organised wiht laundry when we are living mainly at the shed .. I think I might have to get on with ironing later .. eek!
Had a total blow out on John Lewis yesterday, bought a beautiful oven for the new kitchen .. I am not even posting any links about it so you cannot gasp as my extravagance!
Does anyone know what to do with the not very old, indeed almost new gas cooker I no longer need? We replaced it after the fire, so it must be less than a year old .. but not everyone's taste, with an eye level grill!
