I love season tickets - used to have one for Bristol Zoo which cost £32, and came with about three free tickets for friends. It was great, you would sail past the general queue, straight in, beautiful gardens to sit in - If we don't sell our house soon I'm going to dip into my ISA and buy another one!
Carnival Day sounds fun, glad you enjoyed it m n' d
Thanks for the good wishes suze. I spent the afternoon round Minnie's - I think she's ok, probably stressed and it's made her stiff arm and leg go into more spasms and feel painful. I suppose the GP does have to take it seriously .. but it's a shame she's been completely signed off for a fortnight, her civil service job is precious.

hiya
hope minnie gups is ok, guess it is s case of wait and see ...
hiya mumndad, glad you enjoyed the carnival ..
we've been shopping ... again .. hopefully the last time, we got lovely new curtains, tho they are going to need shortening they are lovely ...
also bought a few accesories for the bathroom .. it's a mither how to fix things to these plyboard walls, but we got some tips from james at teh weekend .. so hopefully we can manage!
chris hasn't shown up with any plans for the decoration of the kitchen wall, so I think we're going to get someone else to do that job ... B's been researching, and someone's coming to see the job soon .. we're probably not going to get metal, more likely a veneer now
the plumber's van broke so he didn't get here today .. but he has got the new part for the boiler and hope that'll sort out the heating (hot water is ok anyway)
there is so much to get when you equip a new house .. still looking into ariels, etc for the new telly
land line has been ordered so the nuisance of no mobile signal will soon be a thing of the past
tomorrow I will be cleaning the bathroom .. it's been acting as a paint and paper store for ages and not really been cleaned since it was finished ... and the painting aint done in there for same reason, and also attending on gas-man using the boiler cupboard so we can't finish it till he's finished .. .

Hi,Susan just read your latest and now know why I couldn't get you on the phone I left a message on your number, but not on Brigid's. Every thing seem's to be going really well, all fitting together very nicely,I am really getting impatient to come and see it all, your photos have been really good to keep us well informed how things are progressing . About the wall cladding the stuff we had (MUMS BREAK IN) was put in by the bathroom fitter and he fixed on the soap dish with screws the others are the plastic suction pad things. Its raining so we are going to Tesco in the car. MUM
Your mum just put that on while I wasn't here, I had just gone to check on the thickness of it ,it is 11m/m thick and faced both side with hard laminate one side with the pattern on it the plywood is 5 ply thick. If yours is like that you can use screw's or as your Mum say's sticker's. Did you know I made two tables out of some of the stuff left over from the proper job, I made them for our caravan to use on the decking for little side tables one each ,I think Julie uses them. the point is it is very strong and will take a screw just like a piece of wood.
But sticky hooks are better if you may want to find the best place to put things .
iF YOU USE SCREW'S IN THE SHOWER ,put a shot of sealant in the hole you drill and that will stop any water creeping into the screw hole and causing a problem later. lots of love to both of you DAD XXX

Hope the sun gets out for Bournmouth air display, J and J and the boys have gone there for a few days. Its not raining now so will keep fingers X. You can get small metal sheets for the back of the cooker from Focus or B and Q. Dont feel in the mood for cleaning this week so am being lazy. Had a delicious steak in Wetherspoons Dorch, on Tuesday the first meat in ages, must say I enjoyed it.

thanks for the DIY tips, dad .. I've got sucker things for the shower caddy thing, but wanted to screw a towel hoop on .. the main thing is this quite heavy cabinet we bought ... might get a bloke to help with that!
I dunno what our veneer sheeting is like, there is none left here now .. but don't think it had laminate on both sides, is was sort of corrugated behind the patterned side .. I did see it, but it didn't fix ..
you'll have to come up in Septemeber .. I'm in Scotland for a few days around my birthday, cycling with Andy cos he has gone part-time, so has planned this to mark the fact he is working less .. haha
it's not a stress doing these things, just there is a lot to do .. shortening the curatins will be quite a job, as well!
B is repainting the outside, cos the work Chris did back in april was the first treatment it'd had for a few years, and the sun has already made some of it look a bit needy again, so it's getting a winter coat to be on the safe side
we're also not happy with how slippy decking gets, so we're stapling chickenwire about the place to get a better grip
weird not being able to talk to you properly, but the phone is rubbish here, land line comes in Sept, I think .. can't remember, actually, B fixed it up ..
need to think about how to keep plans in a place where we can both see them where-ever we are too!

IT's also a bit like one of those kids's game, you know the square with numbers in and one space that you have to keep moving stuff around till the get into the right sequence, so it is with our stuff, we have to move and shuffle to clear the space for one thing then move and shuffle back for another .. so the wardrobe is a pickle, with various tools and pots of paint that we still nee .. but will eventually go home out of the way
and I'm really looking forward to getting that properly sorted out! we need to get a real shed at the back, too, and that will need a flat surface, whch is currently ISN'T .. so another job to sort
B said we should try that ourselves, but I remember the time we tried to make a simple step in the garden, and the paving on it always wobbled, so how the heck she thinks we've got the skill to carveout a 4x6 flat plane I dunno!
but we bought the outdoor table and chairs up yesterday, and today we did our yoga in the sunshine and sat oustside to eat our breakfast ... which was lovely

We spent ages making sure the bathroom was all spic and span, it's been sort of a store room for most of the time,so it needed a good clean ... and the boiler cupboard is still not fully painted .. hung on about it today in case the plumber came, but turns out he's coming tomorrow ..
put up a lovely glass shelving stand for the towels and stuff .. which meant I could get onto putting them away and thus liberate the wardroobe, so now that is pretty much sorted out, with lovely scenty drawer liners and clothes put into proper order on the shelves ..
there's still some DIY stuff in a bit of the wardrobe, but gradually stuff is getting put out of the way into the car as we think we finished with it ...
hung a couple of pictures and arranged books on shelves today too .. so it really does feel like a home now instead of a work in progress ..
tho it is still in progress LOL

re hotels, I'll do a bit of research, there are lots round here cos it's pretty touristy ... what sort of thing do you want? right on top of this site, or over in Chester, for instance? not far away but interesting?
luxury or bargain basement?
there is a lenny henry place not far away, just off the motorway ..

:)Hi Sue I thought we could contact that firm Juie sorted out for us all, when we went to Nans funeral last year. Yes Chester may be a good stop over place, will sort out nearer the time you get back from Scotland, try to get a few names of places in the town so we know we are not to far out, or places nearer you. Been a bit wet today we just went to the bank. Dad got 6 books out of the works shop, cheaper than the charity shops. ;D.

Chester does offer a fair bit of choice ...
was that place we all stayed in a chain or just a one-off Julie found ?.. she maybe used Late Rooms to get a decent price .. will ask her when we see her NEXT WEEK!!!
There is quite a posh looking hotel in the very middle of Frodsham and a couple on the hill just near hear that are worth a look ...
So you want something a bit more individual than Premier Inn ?
