Seems a little forward of me to start the January thread as I've been such an intermittent visitor but here goes!
: Christmas survived : New Year survived : food consumed - too much : alcohol consumed - hardly any : visitors entertained - more than expected : family rows - one , but it was a cracker ( not mine, thank goodness, but WV's spoilt kid sister) : resolutions made - zero, hence : resolutions broken - zero! : job uncertainty - ongoing
so, how's it been for everyone else?
(sorry for typos, etc, using iPhone and it's a small keyboard)

: Christmas - survived : New Year - survived : food consumed - about enough, still got some left which is being worked through sensibly as we can't afford new clothes yet : alcohol consumed - surprisingly little, we still have 20 odd pints left in the polypin : visitors entertained - wendy's mum and sister, then friends from manchester with the guide dog pup they are walking, I sooo wanted to keep him : family rows - none : resolutions made - zero, I made a resolution not to make any more several years ago and haven't broken it yet : resolutions broken - zero : job uncertainty - still self employed and could do with more work, however if I had it I'd have to do it and I'd probably resent the intrusion
on the whole a pretty good year so far

morning all, i should be in work, but the boiler has broken in the 'extreme weather' as they keep calling it, so staff aren't back till Thursday and students till next Monday. Very happy about this ... Dad has a hospital appointment this afternoon for his kidney stone and it means I can take him without any hassle. Plus a whole extra day off to myself tomorrow

That's good jane!
It has snowed here but only slightly ..
I feel a bit groggy, like a hang-over, but since I've not had a drink for years I doubt it is that! We will go out and try to blow it away later ...

Hi Sue glad you got back safe. Went to get a bit of food in today, it was very busy in Tesco, think most of them were stacking up in case we get more snow. Rather dull today but then we are not thinking of trecking out, Thanks for C D. sang along with it while doing my puzzle. Dont bother with resolutions. Dr uped my dose of Pravastin but Ive had terrible pains in my joints Im not going to take anymore I will tell him when I next go to the surgery, I did ring loads of times to make a appointment this morning but the line was engaged all the time.

Hello folks. Glad we are all surviving & keeping busy. .......... Glad you are back Sue & that it was a holiday well worth while. Hope you feel better soon. I feel sure you will. ........... Sorry about the pain in the joints mum&dad. Can't tell if it is mum or dad, so to speak. So I will just wish you both the very best & hope you are both well soon. ............. Well Ann I guess you are enjoying your new location by now. It's been a long wait for you. ............ The thin fall of snow has gone now, but it is cold. Brrr! Maybe more snow will follow. But hey, it is winter after all. ......................... Just been food shopping today & a visit to town. Nothing exciting. ........... No resolutions here either. ................ And just a quiet night in tonight for me. .......... Hope everyone is feeling well.

Happy January everyone All the household unpacking is done but I'm still sorting out my art stuff and sentimental belongings like school essays and diaries. Making plans, thinking about changes in general .. We found the woodland walk into town, about three minutes from the flat. It's a nature reserve, beautiful in Spring I imagine. Once out of the wood you arrive in the Bishop of Wells Palace Gardens, which is just like a castle with a moat, with swans and ducks. Minnie's wedding on Thursday, we stay overnight at her place tomorrow. I have: Red velvet dress with built in bolero, which will need to be strategically sewn to my bra in places Blue tights and shoes with slight heel Blue "fascinator" hair clip with fabric rose petals and feathers Blue leather gloves (parental Christmas present) Blue velvet clutch bag (5 quid in M&S sale) A pair of red and a matching pair of blue earrings Still haven't coloured my hair and don't think I will - it might be a little over the top to do that

the thought crossed my mind ..
no, not really ;D, just a wash in tint - but I'm sticking with my natural iron grey nowadays. I'm gradually turning into my much admired grandma who was fabulous looking into her 80's, but I'm not going to dye my hair bright red like she did - most of it fell out as a result and mine's starting to ..

I hope you are fabulous looking into your 80s too, Anne!

well there is a binky shaped hole in my garage, I needed to go out yesterday and tried to take her off the centre stand and took 3 attempts as the front wheel didn't want to turn 20 minutes of cleaning rusty looking stuff off later gave me a bike that would move and stop when I wanted it to, so I rode on eggshells as I didn't have a choice, did my errand and dropped her off at the garage for a fettle bit of a pain
